This image, taken from in the water at Buckroe, gives you an idea of what it's like being down in the shore break.

Buckroe can have a particularly nasty shore break because the waves break right as you enter the water. You really have no time to get going and sail through it. You have to wait for a clean spot between the sets, drop your gear into place, and scramble to get out. Fortunately there is no real current to add to the disarray but you do have to watch out for the jetties.
