When the weeds get thick on North Carolina's outer Banks one of the few places left to sail without a weed fin is from Windmill Point at Kitty Hawk Sports in Nags Head. On this particular day, Chris Zeitvogel and I cut the Hatteras day trip by a full hour and launched north of the island. This launch is now starting to get infested with jetskis but when the winds start to crank it can still be an awsone launch.

The water is shallow on the inside and once you navigate around the few small islands bordering the open sound, you have about 3 miles of open water to cruise.

Here, Chris is living up to his reputation of remaining on the water until it is too dark to see. And sometimes that hasn't even stopped him.
