Hatteras - Driving Directions from Hampton Roads Peninsula

• Take I-64 E to I-664 S
• After going across the Monitor-Merrimack bridge-tunnel, take exit 15B to I-64 E
• Take exit 291B (Nags Head) to Route 168
• Follow Chesapeake Expressway and pay 2$ toll (45 minutes)
• Cross over Wright Memorial bridge into Kitty Hawk (1 hour 45 minutes)
• Pass visitor center as 168 becomes 12 S
• Continue along highway 12 just past mile post 16
• As the road curves to the right toward Manteo, turn left at the light toward Hatteras Island
• Cross Oregon Inlet onto Hatteras Island via the Herbert Bonner bridge (2 hours 15 minutes)
• 15 more minutes to Rodanthe, 30 more minutes to Avon
